The Viral KVD Good Apple Foundation is Getting a Matching Concealer

KVD Beauty Good Apple Foundation Balm was a hit last spring. Now, the brand is launching its first sister product. The Foundation Balm was a huge success due to its high coverage. However, the balmy formula made it look natural and smooth on the skin. The TikTok hashtag for the product garnered over 29,000,000 views and earned the approval of Glamzilla and Mikayla Noveira. Other celebrities like Kourtney Kim Kardashian and Avril Lavandigne are also fans. 

The brand will now offer a matching concealer for the foundation, the KVD Good Apple Full-Coverage Concealer. It launches officially on February 1. The concealer is a concentrated formulation that conceals imperfections in the foundation. It has the same lightweight yet high-coverage formula as the OG, and is intended to have “extreme long-wear staying power” thanks to the brand’s use of InterLace Pigments. 

It’s also enriched with the same skin-care goodness as the foundation—including antioxidant-rich apple extract and raspberry stem cells—to get that smooth canvas and to keep skin looking juicy like an apple all day long. To get the best blend, the doe-foot applicator has a shape that resembles a finger. The concealer is available in 32 shades with a range undertones such as yellow, pink, and even copper.

I’m not one who goes for full coverage day to day, but the KVD Beauty concealer does not budge, which is very impressive.  The formula is one that blends out well and has amazing coverage that lasts all day, and most importantly, it’s vegan and cruelty free. I wear shade Deep 31 which has a deep nutmeg color and a warm undertone. The con is that it does crease a bit,  and I find it really oxidizes, meaning that it changes color once it’s on the skin. You should always test them out in the store before purchasing, and order a couple more if you shop online.  However, I love the thicker consistency, and that it’s pretty controlled.

Full disclosure: I haven’t tried anything from KVD before so it was a surprise that this full coverage concealer is as effective as it claims to be. wow. When I first applied it to my undereyes, it was hard to believe. (Spoiler alert: It’s not a pretty look. I don’t use foundation so I decided to dilute the product by first applying it to my hand, then using a Beautyblender under my eyes to apply it. I don’t think I’ll be using this concealer for everyday since it is *really* pigmented for my minimal tastes, but I think anyone who loves a full face of makeup will want to have this in their repertoire.

The heavy-duty formula covers all my needs and is lightweight and non-cakey. You only need a little, and the formula can be difficult to apply. If you apply too much, it can cause creases. Although I usually use a brush to apply concealer, I found that using the pads on my ring finger worked better as the heat from my hands helped warm the product and melt it into my skin.

Let me begin by saying, “I.” LoveKVD products. I’m not a huge concealer girl as I usually just rely on a spot corrector and foundation to cover my acne scars, but more recently I’ve been experimenting with concealers for a lighter no-makeup-makeup look. This concealer is a winner. It glides on smoothly, doesn’t crack or crease over the time (which is important for me).It provides a good coverage. I’ve been putting it on my under eyes, blending it out, and finishing up with a bit of powder for a simple on the go look. No foundation required.

This concealer is full-on, so if you are looking for natural coverage, this is the concealer for you. I love a lot more coverage, and need it to cover my dark circles from insomnia. This concealer was full-on enough that it didn’t look heavy or fake. The formula was not heavy or drying. However, I like a little glow under my eyes so I used a pearly cream (shout out Banana Bright). It glided on smoothly and didn’t crease throughout the night. I did have to adjust my application a little bit—I usually let my concealer sit for about a minute and get tacky before blending, but this dries fast, so I had to work quickly. The pointed doe foot wand was a great tool for concealing blemishes or getting into small spaces. I was unable to use the shades I had because they were too peachy. However, it did brighten dark circles and cover my pimples.
