The Tinder Swindler Says He’s ‘Not a Fraud’ in First Interview Post-Netflix Documentary

Simon Leviev believes Netflix has twisted his story. In his first interview since, Leviev says Netflix got it all wrong. The Tinder SwindlerLeviev told his side of this story on February 2, 2012.

Leviev (born Shimonhayut) said that he was just a single man who wanted to meet girls on Tinder. Inside EditionInterview, which will be published in two parts on February 21st and 22nd. “I am not an Tinder Swindler.”

For the interview, Leviev was joined by his “model girlfriend.” In a second clip shared by Entertainment WeeklyHe claims Netflix presented it. The Tinder Swindler“A documentary, but in truth it’s like an entire document.[ly] made-up movie.” He adds, “I am the biggest gentleman in the world. They call me the Tinder Swindler. I am not a thief and I am not a fake. People don’t know me so they can’t judge me.”

Leviev was convicted in December 2019 of fraud, theft, forgery, and sentenced 15 months in prison. However, he was released after only five months. According to the Netflix documentary, Leviev used several aliases in order to scam women he met via the dating app. The total cost of his crimes was $10 million. Victims claim he conned them into lending him thousands of dollars after lavishing them extravagantly with gifts and dates. 

Simon Leviev may have been banned from Tinder but he maintained a social presence on the internet after the Netflix hit. Just before deleting his Instagram account earlier this month, he asked his followers to “keep an open mind and heart.”

“I will share my side of the story in the next few days when I have sorted out the best and most respectful way to tell it, both to the involved parties and myself,” Leviev wrote, per Glamour U.K. “Until then, please keep an open mind and heart.”
