My salon blowout obsession began from too many chemical straightening sessions that made my naturally curly, voluminous locks a dull, damaged mess that I couldn’t manage on my own. It was great to walk out of the salon with bouncy, fresh curls every time. But I soon realized that I had to stop this financially irresponsible habit and started looking for a blow dryer brush to make styling at home easier.
The T3 AireBrush Duo Blow-Dry Brush is now available. The hot tool was launched in the fall 2021 and costs $180 for a blow dryer unit with two attachments. The two-and-a-half-inch round brush is ideal for achieving ’90s-inspired bouncy blowouts, while the three-inch paddle brush gives you smooth, sleek strands—keratin treatment style. I often gravitate towards the former since I’m a sucker for flippy ends and lots of volume, though I get the appeal of a super-straight look.
Admittedly, I am not. That good at styling my own hair, but luckily, I’ve picked up a few tricks over the years, and one of my main moves (whether you’re using the T3 Airebrush or any other blow-dryer brush) is to wait until hair is 70%-90% dry before going in. This not only cuts down on the time it takes to blow-dry, but also reduces damage as I don’t heat my wet ends. I recommend applying heat protectant spray before drying.
Although YouTube tutorials and pros recommend that you section your hair, I prefer to use the blow-dryer brush straight in, starting with the front pieces that frame my face. I then work my way backwards in two-inch sections, using my wrist to twist, turn, and flip each section until it becomes perfectly bouncy.
