Minnie Mouse Is Getting Her First Pantsuit Courtesy of Stella McCartney

Minnie Mouse has been a cultural icon for decades. The Disney mascot is most likely pictured in her red dress, with white polka dots, puffy sleeves, and her matching bow, which sits between her mice ears. 

Minnie Mouse will be wearing her first ever pantsuit at the Disneyland Paris 30th-year celebration. Stella McCartney, fashion designer, is creating the pantsuit. 

Disneyland Paris shared a first glimpse of the design via its official Twitter page Tuesday, January 25th:

The pantsuit is a change from the traditional red and white palette Minnie Mouse was known for. It now features a dark and black ensemble. One thing hasn’t changed: Polka dots, bows. Dark polka dots are covered in Minnie Mouse’s pantsuit. It has a tailored blazer with trousers. There are two small bows in the front of the jacket, as well as the matching bow on Minnie Mouse’s head.

Stella McCartney, designer, spoke to D23 about the design. “Minnie has always had a special place in my heart,” McCartney said. “We share the same values. Minnie is a wonderful example of happiness, self expression, authenticity, and inspires people all over the globe. Plus, she has such great style!”

McCartney also explained what the significance of McCartney’s pantsuit design. “This new take on her signature polka dots makes Minnie Mouse a symbol of progress for a new generation,” she said. “This new take on her signature polka dots makes Minnie Mouse a symbol of progress for a new generation.
