Where to celebrate New Year’s Eve — from light shows to fireworks and more

0

The Shine A Light Installation made its debut at The Promontory in 2013. It displays 60 light beams in a circular arrangement to symbolize strength in diversity during the pandemic. It also spotlights frontline workers and ground-up groups as well as charities helping local communities in these difficult times.

The installation will be lit up in a different color each week from now until Dec 28 to highlight a different cause. And from Dec 29 to 31, it’ll glow in magenta to depict the harmonious spirit of Singapore Together, as well as celebrate partnerships forged between Singaporeans to create a caring, just and equal society.

Local philanthropic organisation The Majurity Trust has also hopped on board this year and embarked on a fundraising campaign to rally donors, corporates, and private individuals, to ‘adopt’ 60 light beams to symbolically brighten up the lives of those amongst us who are in need. Five grants will be made to support vulnerable communities in Singapore such as youths with mental health issues, dementia patients, caregivers, and families at-risk.
