Try something new: Meditate for 5 minutes every morning

Still lost?

Don’t worry! We know that taking on a new task can be daunting, especially with meditation because you’re simply left to your own devices.

These are some of my favorite tips as a yoga instructor to help students get into meditation.

Meditation can help you if you are anxious or constantly think about your daily schedule. Tell yourself that you’re only going to meditate for five minutes.

It takes only five minutes to relax before you return to your to-do lists. If that’s not enough, some people may prefer to do a brain dump in a notebook before meditating so that they can write down all their thoughts, tasks, and plans for the day.

If you have trouble sitting still for five minutes,Use a prop or stretch it out.

Sitting still for five minutes isn’t as easy as it seems because many of us are used to leaning on one side or slouching.

If you feel tight after sitting up for a while, do a quick stretch to loosen your muscles. This will make it easier to meditate.

Props can also be helpful for cushioning your practice. For example, you could use a cushion to comfort your back, a block to lift your hips, or a blanket that will keep your feet warm and prevent your ankles rubbing against the ground.
