Q: I have dengue. Q: How long does my fever last?
A: Fever should subside in most patients within three to five working days. However, some patients will still experience fever until the seventh day. However, around the time a patient’s fever starts to settle, their platelet count will also start dropping quite significantly.
Patients may become dehydrated during this critical phase, which usually lasts for three to six days.
By about day seven or eight of the illness, a patient’s platelet count will typically start to rise again and their fever fall, meaning they are on the road to recovery.
