How to Shop for an Exercise Bike
How can you choose the right bike among the seemingly endless selection of bikes on offer? Katz says that it is important to choose a bike that will be used for more than just hanging laundry. You want it to be something you enjoy riding. This can take some trial and error, especially when you aren’t sure what you want.
Katz recommends looking for a bike that can shift between many different gears. This is more important for road cyclists, she says, as some gear shifts can feel quite similar to outdoor bikes.
Katz says that if you have specific goals for your stationary bike journey, you might consider a larger, clearer display to track all the numbers. You should be looking for numbers like power and cadence. She says, “This way, I can track these metrics and see how my improvements have been from class to class.”
No matter how experienced you are with stationary bicycles, you might consider adding some accessories to your ride. Katz says that she recommends a pair of cycling shoes. She recommends a pair of New Balance shoes. They have enough hardware to attach to a bicycle’s pedals and offer all-day comfort.
