Hill House Home’s Cult-Favorite Nap Dress Gets a Holiday Update

0

Hill House Home is just as well-known for its loyal fan base as it is for its era-defining hero, the nap gown. Nap Dress Nation, a group of thousands of shoppers, is getting an early gift from its favorite company: a festive drop that incorporates shoppers’ most common requests and adds new items they didn’t know they wanted.

Hill House Home’s 2021 holiday line is now available. The collection includes a Jasmine long-sleeve napdress and a Fanm Mon limited-edition cardigan. The popular tartan nap dresses from last year are back in both adult and child sizes. For every holiday party, the color palette and wintery fabrics will be a hit. It doesn’t matter if it is October. These pieces will instantly bring you into the Hill House holiday spirit.

Nell Diamond, founder, describes the collection as capturing two moods. She says it captures cozy winter (as seen with tartan nap dresses or toile sweatsuits), and celebratory holiday (dresses made in new-tothe-brand materials such as velvet and a twinkling brocade). The brand’s popularity is not diminished by the use of more formal nap dresses. Hill House’s velvet contains silk for an extra-soft feel, and all dresses have the same amount of structure and stretch.

“I think one of the things that’s so important to me about the nap dress having gone through having twins last year, and going through so many changes in my body, is being really comfortable while I’m celebrating,” Diamond explains of the designs. “It’s something I don’t want to go back on. We set ourselves a challenge to make more celebratory nap dresses.

Hill House Home is able to create dresses that can be worn from formal holiday portraits to six-hour Thanksgiving dinner. This is just one example of how Hill House Home integrates shoppers’ requests into its new lines. Customers’ requests for long-sleeve nap dresses have been high for months. “Literally every single nap dress we’ve ever made has come from Nap Dress Nation,” Diamond says.

This philosophy of listening is extended to new categories like tights. “People were constantly asking me last summer where you get your turtlenecks or tights that go underneath your Ellies or Athenas?” Diamond had borrowed admittedly expensive styles from her mom’s wardrobe—not something she can replicate for customers. Hill House Home can make tights that are just like Diamond’s favorite styles, but at $25 per pair.

The velvet Akilah and velvet Ellie dresses are Diamond’s top choices for holiday parties. They can be worn with a pearl necklace and gold, strappy shoes, or a velvet Akilah dress paired with a brown boot and a cardigan. This is for a cocktail party. Diamond says these nighttime dresses are great for when gifts have been wrapped but not opened. “I’ll wear my velvet Ellie to the office all winter long with a turtleneck and a leather jacket.”

Diamond and her team at Hill House headquarters are already working on next year’s holiday collection. We will need to be patient in order to determine what makes the final cut. “Sometimes when people on Instagram write that they want something, I’m like, if only you guys knew I’m already working on it—but you’ll have to wait a year!” Diamond laughs.
