Zendaya Had the Best Reaction to a Shoutout During Megan Thee Stallion’s Oscars Performance

Zendaya was honored to hear a reference to herself during a live performance of “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.” 

The 2022 Oscars were an eventful occasion. The 94th Academy Awards ceremony included the first live performance of the relentlessly catchy song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from Disney’s EncantoThe Oscar for best animated feature film was won by, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” was not nominated for best original song, but, being a song that became about as popular as “Happy Birthday” within weeks, it was begging to be performed at the Oscars. The cast of EncantoMegan Thee Stallion started the performance. She then joined in with a rap section that made reference to the Academy Awards.  

Megan Thee Stallion performed near Zendaya’s seat—who was at the Oscars representing best picture nominee Dune—and referenced her presence in the song. Zendaya was already having a great time during Megan’s performance and was delighted to hear the rapper—and the first female rapper to ever perform at the Oscars at that—sing her name. “Zendaya over there,” Megan Thee Stallion said, while pointing at her.

Zendaya was already thrilled to be witnessing a live performance from the iconic rapper at the Oscars, especially during “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” but she got way more excited when she suddenly got involved.
