This Facial Steamer Completely Saved My Dry Winter Skin

0 203

Hot take: A facial’s best part is the facial steamer. Warm steam is the best way to relax. I would live in a sauna if it was possible. I will use it in winter to heat my steam bath and then put it under my showerhead to enjoy the steam and hot water. Then, I will apply a mask to recreate the spa experience at home.

During a facial, your facialist will typically use a facial steamer—a steady stream of ultrafine steam—to help open your pores after cleansing. This allows your skin to breathe and absorb products such as serums, moisturizers and exfoliation.

Facial steamers are an essential part of any great facial. However, steam can also be used to relax. The warm mist gently touching my face almost puts me to sleep every night. When I’m not falling asleep, I try to meditate. I focus on my breathing and inhale the mist. This helps my sinuses clear. You can see my excitement when I discovered Dr. Dennis Gross’s Pro Facial Steamer. This steamer allows me to have the spa experience of my dreams at home.

The Pro Facial Steamer works exactly the same way as professionals, but in your own home. This device makes it easy to do your own facials, or just sit in steam for nine minutes, even in a time where salon visits and in-person treatments may not be feasible for everyone. The device is easy to use, with a removable chamber to store water, an on-off button to turn off the steamer, and a curved nozzle that releases steam.

It is important to remember that this is Not like your garment steamer at home. The steam is comfortable and warm. It doesn’t leave any water behind like other facial steamers. Dr. Dennis Gross advises that your face be at least eight inches from the nozzle in order to avoid any scalding.

The steamer includes a guide for DIY facials and recommends the brand’s cult-favorite Alpha Beta Daily peels after steaming. Followed by serum and moisturizer. C+ Collagen Deep Cream is my favorite. It leaves my skin feeling soft and radiant. Joanna Vargas Exfoliating Mask with Kaolin Clay and Volcanic Ash is my go-to for a spa-like experience. I steam my skin and apply it to my skin. It even helps with breakouts—after my chin received an influx of zits and whiteheads, I steamed the area and applied the DRx Blemish Solutions Acne Eliminating Gel and woke up to my maskne much smaller in size.

The Pro Facial Steamer is $150. This is a big spend, but well worth the money. You can now make every day a spa day.
