‘The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo’ Is Being Made Into a Netflix Movie

A massive bestseller that’s also a favorite on BookTok, The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn HugoTaylor Jenkins Reid knew that the story would be adapted soon. And on Thursday, March 24, Netflix announced that it was taking the story to the big screen…or whatever size screen you stream on.

The announcement was made on Instagram by the Netflix Film account. This suggests that the adaptation will be a film and not a limited series. However, we could totally imagine them making one episode for each husband. Jenkins Reid’s other bestseller, Daisy Jones and the SixReese Witherspoon is producing a TV series entitled, soon. The title role will be played by Riley Keough.

Evelyn recounts her time in the Golden Age of Hollywood, her rise to fame, and her seven marriages—revealing stunning secrets and lies. But through it all one question remains: Why has she chosen Monique for her final confession?”

What’s The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo about?

The short answer is: Many things, but mostly… being bisexual. Long answer: Evelyn Hugo is invited to an exclusive interview by a journalist. As the actor reveals more about her life—and the seven husbands she famously wed—it becomes clear that her public image is a far different one from her private self. 

Who’s in the cast?

There hasn’t been an announcement yet, but we can hear agents’ phones ringing across Hollywood. Evelyn Hugo is 79 in the book. We can imagine a well-known star being cast. As for Evelyn’s younger self, it could an opportunity for a relatively unknown star to make her name.

Who is directing?

We’re not sure, but Sofia Coppola could do the story justice. Just an observation.

Who is writing?

Deadline reports that Liz Tigelaar will be “adapting,” though the outlet doesn’t specify if that means she will have sole writing credit or will oversee the process. Her credits include Little Fires EverywhereAnd The Morning Show.
