It can be difficult to imagine someone who isn’t as athletically inclined as me getting up in the freezing winter to work out for an hour before tackling the day’s duties. Kloots believes that it is all about getting in the right mindset and listening to good music to get her up and moving.
“Anytime I think about how I’m too tired or it’s too cold outside, or I just don’t want to get my outfit on or something, I just think about how lucky we are to be able to move our body. It really is that simple,” the Dancing With the Stars alum tells Glamour. “We are so lucky to be able to work out. It is not a chore, it is a privilege, and that is literally one of my mottos.”

Kloots teamed up with Spotify to create a playlist of the best workout songs for the new year. The pop-heavy playlist, which clocks in at under two hours, features some of the fitness instructor’s favorite songs. Most of these songs are used in her AK Fitness videos. The Amanda Kloots-AK playlist includes electro-dance tunes as well as slow, romantic songs. The dance playlist is a step in the right directions for a world that can sometimes get so overwhelming as we enter the second year of the pandemic. While music may not be able to save everyone, sometimes it is enough to just have a good dance party moment.
“I used to look at fitness as a means of losing weight or fitting into a certain size clothing,” Koots says. “Fitness has become more like a therapy for my body over the past couple of years. It’s how I bring a smile to my face every day. I love that there’s a freedom in fitness.”
