It’s the perfect choice for brunettes who want to change their hair color but stay within their natural shades. In fact, the demand for different shades of red has increased over the past few years, including bright red, copper and, increasingly, strawberry brunette. Brands are responding to this shade more than ever with at-home products from Moroccanoil and Josh Wood to enhance hair color, no matter if you’re a true redhead or not.

In the U.K., John Frieda’s leading colorists Nicola Clarke, Zoe Irwin, Cetera Lamb, and Shannon Gallacher have come together to create a specialist color service to identify the most flattering shade of red for their clients, taking account of skin tone, eye color, wardrobe, and hair texture. “I might use a soft color glaze, rich deep pigment, or multidimensional tones to create the perfect color to enhance someone’s skin tone,” explains Nicola Clarke, John Frieda Salons creative color director. That means layering a strawberry shade infusion on top of the base brunette.
