Netflix Just Announced ‘Cheer’ Season 2 Is Dropping in Less Than a Month

Surprise! Surprise! Yep, CheerSeason 2 is coming soon.

The first season was released in early 2020. It became a huge success with viewers who were captivated by the young cheerleaders from Navarro College in Corsicana Texas and Monica Aldama, their tough, loving mother. The squad was preparing for the national championships, where they were heavily favored. However, personal demons and physical injuries threatened the spots of individual athletes and the group’s chances at winning. It was fascinating; Simone Biles was a huge fan!

Although Cheer was a huge success for Netflix, it was not clear if the series would receive a second season. Jerry Harris, a fan favorite, was arrested on one count of producing child pornography. He was also accused of “soliciting pornographic videos and images of minors and soliciting sex from a 13-year-old victim at cheerleading competitions,” per the Chicago TribuneHarris was charged with several offenses. Harris pleaded not guilty in December 2020.

Netflix announced Tuesday, 28 December that it had acquired the rights to the following: CheerNot only would he return, but he would also address the allegations against the show’s former stars. Here’s what we know. CheerSeason 2:

When will the new season start?

All nine episodes of the series will be available on Netflix beginning January 12.

Who is returning from the first season?

Coach Aldama is back, as are Lexi Brumback and Gabi Butler.

When was it film?

Per Variety, the filmmakers originally began making a season about Navarro’s arch-rivals at Trinity Valley in January 2020, but the production – and the cheer season – were both scrapped due to the coronavirus pandemic. Filming resumed in September 2020.

How will they deal with the Jerry Harris scandal

Per Variety, there will be an episode focused on the allegations against Harris, in which “the brothers who first came forward about Harris are interviewed.” The docu-series also shows the case’s effect on Harris’ former teammates, and apparently it all goes down in episode 5.
