Kosas’s New Revealer Foundation Cured My Winter Skin Blahs

0

I was excited when the Kosas Revealer Foundation came out. The cool-girl brand is behind some of my recent favorite launches—Cloud Set powder and Airbrow are staples in my makeup bag—and Revealer sounded like everything I want in a foundation: medium coverage, natural soft finish, and acne-friendly ingredients.

However, I couldn’t shake the feeling that it wouldn’t be right for me. Though I love the look of hydrated, dewy, no-makeup skin, I’ve suffered with adult acne for years, and I end up needing something with major coverage to feel comfortable enough to leave my house. Though I’m obsessed with the Kosas products that work for me, the brand isn’t exactly known for the full-coverage look, so I was intrigued by the new product but skeptical it would work for me.

Most Kosas shoppers love this brand for its natural, dewy coverage. Customers asked for the foundation version its beloved Revealer Concealer. They wanted it in a larger tube because they already used it on their entire face.

The Kosas Revealer Foundation takes all the benefits of the concealer—natural coverage and skin-loving ingredients—and dials it up to 100. It promises slightly more coverage than the concealer and a natural skin-blurring effect that is between matte and dewy. Kosas calls all its makeup “tinted skin care,” and this product is no different—the formula includes niacinamide and caffeine to brighten and smooth, squalane and vitamin B3 to soothe, and hyaluronic acid and peptides to hydrate and firm. It is also noncomedogenic, has SPF 25 and is free of silicone.

I decided to ignore my doubts, and take the foundation out for a spin. I was instantly impressed by its gorgeous finish—it’s not quite dewy, since it dries down, but it has the prettiest lit-from-within glow. It looks just like real skin, but after a good night’s sleep and a facial. I was worried it wouldn’t have much staying power, but it held up pretty well throughout the day—by dinner I was dealing with some fading and pimples showing through, but no weird patchiness or crumbling, which I often deal with.
