Kim Kardashian Broke Her Silence Over Her Controversial Advice For Women in Business

Kim Kardashian is finally ready to talk about that “get your fucking ass up and work” controversy. In case you didn’t know, Kim Kardashian offered some advice for women working in business. It didn’t go over well.

“I have the best advice for women and business,” Kim Kardashian during an interview with Varietyearlier in the month. “Get your fucking ass up and work. It seems that everyone wants to work these working days. You need to surround yourself only with people who want to work. Because you only have one chance to live, create a positive work environment where everyone is happy doing what they love. No toxic work environments… show up and do the work.”

The soundbite was immediately criticized and debated, particularly in relation to Kardashian’s privilege and ignorance about the working lives and daily life of most people on this planet. Kim Kardashian–who seemingly tried to fend off the fire by going Instagram official with Pete Davidson following the backlash–has finally addressed the comments in a March 28 interview with Good Morning America.

Kardashian explained to Robin Roberts, “Well, that statement I made was without any questions or discussion around it and it became a soundsbite really with no context.” “And that sound bite, it was after 20 years in the business you are famous for being, and I came off the idea and the question right before.”

Kardashian explained that her tone changed due to the assumption that her success was effortless. “The advice that I would give is just that, having a social media presence and being on a reality show does not mean overnight success,” she said. And you have to really work hard to get there even if it might seem like it’s easy, and that you can build a really successful business off of social media.”

Kardashian also offered an apology, but she mostly expressed regret for how her words were perceived in relation to her statement. She stated, “It wasn’t a blanket statement about women or to feel that I don’t respect the work of them or think they don’t work hard.” “I know they do. It was taken out-of-context, but I am really sorry that it was received in this way.”
