Baggy Pants Are the Latest Celeb-Favorite Trend

0 212

Celebrities like Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski aren’t at all afraid to embrace loose, oversized clothing—including baggy pants, the latest roomy silhouette to earn a prime spot in their wardrobe. Although these slouchy bottoms are closely related to the fashion-girlie-beloved puddle pants, these baggy pants feel infinitely more wearable, thanks to the structured break that makes the trousers crumple at the ankle rather than drag on the floor, which brings street grime into your recently cleaned living room.

Baggy pants are not a new trend. It’s not surprising that Hollywood fashion icons like Lauren Bacall and Katherine Hepburn often wore loose-fitting trousers. The semi-structured style in silk, leather, denim or leather looks great with almost any top or sweater in your wardrobe, including button-downs and grandpa vests. You can also pair it with mules, loafers, or sneakers.

Baggy pants are versatile enough to be worn on a date, at work or in class. They’re also perfect for transitioning from winter to spring—yep, you can pair them with everything from heavy coats and puffer jackets to duster cardigans and cropped T-shirts—meaning it’s high time to add at least one pair to your rotation.

Scroll down to see how celebrities have included the trend in their own rotations. You can also shop for look-alikes and add them to your own repertoire.

Emily Ratajkowski’s ripped baggy jeans are the perfect base for almost any outfit—even one that includes a bold zebra overcoat. EmRata’s style is a great example of how to pair slouchy jeans with basic pieces like a white shirt and casual sneakers. Then, add statement outerwear or accessories (or both!) to complete the look. You have two options: you can stick to the denim classics of blue, black, white, or you can embrace the Y2K dopamine dress trend with colorful jeans, styles with DIY-esque patterns, drawings, or paintlike splatters. Low-rise jeans can give a similar sag and crumple at the ankle—or for the extra adventurous, word on the street is that drop-crotch mall jeans appear to be making a comeback.
