This new local drama will see multiple Star Search alumni like Zoe Tay, Aileen Tan and more

Followers of native TV can be conversant in Mediacorp’s Star Search — a long-running expertise hunt that has produced among the hottest artistes right here.

They embody Zoe Tay and Aileen Tan, who have been the winner and first runner-up in Star Search 1988 respectively; Chew Chor Meng and Rayson Tan, winner and second runner-up of Star Search 1990 respectively; Lina Ng, first runner-up of Star Search 1993; Qi Yuwu, champion of the Guangdong area in Star Search 1999; and Jeffrey Xu, who received in 2010.

Nicely, the general public can now look ahead to an upcoming drama that places all these Star Search alumni collectively onscreen.

The Mandarin drama sequence Darkish Angel is centred round He Ziyuan (Zoe Tay), a carefree housewife who turns into a lawyer to avenge her lawyer husband Lin Kaisen (Rayson Tan) after he’s brutally murdered by an odd man generally known as White Shark.

Whereas investigating her husband’s assassin, Ziyuan meets Zhu Wei (Qi Yuwu), Kaisen’s former colleague and pal, whom she thinks is the most important suspect.

Desirous to get near Zhu Wei, Ziyuan finally takes on many instances with him. The pair are assisted by Alex (Aileen Tan), a gifted investigator and former sufferer of White Shark, in addition to a kind-hearted authorized assistant Chen Yiyi (Gavin Teo).

Star Search 2019 finalist Kiki Lim performs Zoe’s onscreen daughter Lin Youxuan.

Star Search alumni apart, Darkish Angel will even see the looks of some acquainted faces from the previous, akin to James Hu Wensui and Zhang Xinxiang (previously generally known as Zhang Wenxiang).

James, one of many winners of the Shanghai area in Star Search 2001, performs the position of Edwin. He’s a private assistant to the CEO of crime organisation Circles, Gu Wangming (Jeffrey Xu).

Xunxiang performs the position of Gerald Sim, a household pal of the Gus who helps to handle Circles’ enterprise.

Darkish Angel is scheduled to premiere on Channel 8 and meWATCH in September 2022.
