Last December, the hip Jalan Besar enclave welcomed La Levain, an artisanal bakery cafe that’s helmed by executive chef Wythe Ng, formerly of Keong Saik Bakery and Bakery Brera.
The cozy industrial chic interiors combined with rustic elements create a comfortable space for gatherings and nibbling on viennoiseries. These include classics as well as those with local influences. Think Kouign amann, Pain Au Chocolat and Burnt Cheese Croissant. Hojicha Mochi Croissant is $6.80+. Cruffins are $4.60+.
There are also brunch options (8.30am-2pm), which include delicious plates of Avocado Tartine with Egg ($14+), Peanut Butter Tarine ($8+), or the Big Breakfast ($19.80+), which includes eggs, sausage, mushrooms and sourdough bread.
