I have learned some tricks and tips through trial and error to make the best air fryer steaks. This is a leaner sirloin. But, it will work with any steak. I recommend that your steaks be at least 1 inch thick. Thinner steaks don’t brown as well and cook faster. The steaks will brown more easily if you rub a little oil on them. Dry rubs can be used on leaner steaks, such as sirloins or chops. This improves the overall color. We usually eat it with smashed potatoes or baked potatoes. Tips and Variations to Make a Perfect Steak in an Air Fryer

  • Steak Types:I used leaner sirloin in this recipe. However, this method can be used for any thick steak.
  • Thickness is Important:Start with steaks at least one-inch thick. Thinner steaks will cook too quickly and not have a chance for browning.
  • Room TemperatureFor best results, let your steaks cool to room temperature at least 30 minutes before you start cooking.
  • Dry SteaksTo remove moisture, pat steaks or pork chops with paper towels. This will allow them to stream water and not become brown.
  • Browning is betterA little oil will make your steaks, chops, or vegetables brown faster.
  • Dry Rub for Leaner Steaks  Adding a dry rub to leaner steaks helps with overall color. This recipe uses only salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika.
  • Don’t Overcrowd the Basket:Steaks should have sufficient airflow to ensure optimal browning.
  • Rest: Remove the steaks and let them rest on a plate, loosely tented with foil so they don’t continue cooking in the air fryer basket.
