Are you ready to step up your Peloton game. Look no further than your feet. You’re referring to your indoor cycling shoes. If you didn’t know it, the type of cycling shoe you choose plays a significant role in your workout.
The fit, closure system, and sole material will all impact how you feel during your saddle sweats. Christine D’Ercole, a Peloton instructor, says that feet that are supported and comfortable will allow you to better tap into your strength and build it during your workouts. “You will be able to work harder when needed with a more efficient transfer of power, which in turn, will better serve your fitness goals and simple enjoyment of the ride overall.”
A good pair of cycling shoes can be purchased for as low as $50 to $200. There are many options available on Amazon, including many compatible Peloton shoes. Among the overwhelming number on the market, D’Ercole recommends looking for a shoe that’s lighter weight with the stiffest sole within your budget.
“If your shoes are bending each time you press down on the pedals, the shoe is absorbing and dissipating your effort,” says D’Ercole. “When the shoe is flexing, your body compensates, creating unnecessary fatigue.” (And Cody Rigsby knows you work hard enough.)
She also recommends shoes that have a strong velcro closure that will hug your feet. Make sure your pedal system and cleat work together, as many indoor cycling bikes like Peloton have their own pedal setup.
You don’t need to settle for boring black cycling shoes. They are also available in a wide range of fun colors that you can click in. The top-rated Peloton shoes are rated by experts.
