“Each girl shouldn’t be constructed for the good accountability of being a primary girl,” says Regina Corridor in a brand new trailer for “Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul.” Written and directed by Adamma Ebo, the satire tells the story of Trinitie Childs (Corridor), the primary girl of a Southern Baptist megachurch who’s seemingly the brains behind the operation. “He’s simply so uncooked,” she says of her husband, Pastor Lee-Curtis (Sterling Ok. Brown). “He wants somebody to harness all of it.”
When Lee-Curtis is accused of misconduct and compelled to briefly shut his church, he and Trinitie vow to “get to the opposite facet” of the scandal and make “the final word comeback.” Trinitie tells her husband, “We want you again on that pulpit so you may get me again on that stage.”
“Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul” marks Ebo’s characteristic debut.
Requested what drew her to the story, the filmmaker informed us, “I used to be raised Southern Baptist throughout the top of booming megachurch tradition, and I stored discovering myself inside this tug of struggle between what was being preached and what actions had been being proven. The complicated feelings that got here from my need to each go away all of it behind and cling to the points of organized faith that I discover stunning and provoking continued to sit down proper within the pit of my abdomen, so I made a decision to get it out the easiest way I understand how — write.”
Corridor’s latest credit embrace “9 Good Strangers,” “Grasp,” and “Black Friday.”
