Overwhelmed by the calls for of her image-obsessed mom, a 12-year previous lady channels the motherly love she’s not receiving into nurturing an odd egg she discovers within the woods in “Hatching.” A trailer for Hanna Bergholm’s Sundance pic introduces us to Tinja (Siiri Solalinna), a aggressive gymnast, and her mom, a blogger consumed with projecting an idealized model of her household to her followers.
“I’ll deal with you,” Tinja guarantees the egg — and the creature that later emerges from it. Her personal mom is much less preoccupied with caring for Tinja than making certain that she conforms to her expectations. She’s so disconnected that she doesn’t appear to note her daughter’s terrifying new greatest pal.
Bergholm described “Hatching” as a “twisted coming-of-age drama blended with elevated physique horror” in a soon-to-be revealed interview with us.
