Trailer Watch: A Movie Star Is Haunted By Trauma in Charlotte Colbert’s Locarno Winner “She Will”

A declining film star heads to a therapeutic retreat and begins to doubt her personal identification in “She Will.” A trailer for the psychological horror pic, which landed director Charlotte Colbert the Golden Leopard for Finest First Movie on the Locarno Movie Competition, introduces us to Veronica (Alice Krige, “The OA”), who travels to rural Scotland together with her nurse (Kota Eberhardt, “X-Males: Darkish Phoenix”) following a tough surgical procedure.

“I’m having darkish ideas,” Veronica reveals. Whereas processing trauma she’s endured on film units, she’s advised that “the earth is believed to have therapeutic properties from the ladies who have been burned as witches.” The wilderness in the end “offers Veronica the ability to enact revenge,” the movie’s synopsis hints.

“She Will” is described as a “well timed feminist critique” with “#MeToo resonance.” In her director’s assertion, Colbert says it’s “about revenge, the ability of nature, the unconscious, the best way we supply inside us the muscle reminiscence of all those that got here earlier than and all those that will come after.”

You’ll be able to catch the pic in choose theaters and on demand July 15. Colbert wrote the script with Kitty Percy.
