The San Francisco International Film Festival (SFFILM) has announced its 2022 lineup, and 56 percent of this year’s films “are helmed by female or non-binary filmmakers and 52 percent are directed by BIPOC filmmakers,” per a press release from the fest.
The 65th edition will screen more than 130 films originating from 56 countries. Titles set to screen include Abi Damaris Corbin’s “892,” a thriller about a bank heist led by “Star Wars’” John Boyega, and Trinh T. Minh-ha’s video essay examining China nearly half a century after the Cultural Revolution, “What About China?” Débora Souza Silva’s “Black Mothers Love & Resist,” a documentary about two mothers of young Black men victimized by police brutality, is also among the films at the fest.
Programming includes a special tribute to “Everything Everywhere All at Once” star Michelle Yeoh presented by “Killing Eve’s” Sandra Oh.
