Described as “compassionate and horrifying,” “visually beautiful, masterfully acted, [and] impeccably designed from sound to visible results” by Sundance jurors who topped it with the fest’s prime honor, “Nanny” has discovered a house. Blumhouse and Amazon Prime Video acquired rights to the horror-drama, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Written and directed by Nikyatu Jusu, the pic tells the story of Aisha (Anna Diop, “Us”), a Senegalese immigrant working as a nanny for a rich household in New York Metropolis’s Higher East Aspect. Aisha, who’s working to deliver her personal youngster to america, experiences terrifying, violent visions. Michelle Monaghan (“The Path”) co-stars.
“We’re proud to have writer-director Nikyatu Jusu’s ‘Nanny’ as a part of our slate for Amazon. It’s a gem of a horror movie that mixes spectacular filmmaking and highly effective storytelling, and is worthy of the Grand Jury Prize it was awarded at Sundance,” mentioned Jason Blum.
Julie Rapaport, head of flicks at Amazon, added, “From the distinctive performances to its robust visible language, we are able to’t wait to share ‘Nanny’ with our world viewers and to proceed our longstanding collaboration with Blumhouse.”
“Nanny” marks Jusu’s function debut.
