Mimi Cave’s “Fresh” Lands Distribution Ahead of Sundance, Daisy Edgar-Jones Stars

Daisy Edgar-Jones says goodbye to Connell and hiya to a lover who has been “hiding some uncommon appetites” in “Recent.” Searchlight Footage has acquired worldwide rights to thriller concerning the horrors of recent courting starring the “Regular Folks” breakout. A press launch introduced the information.

Directed by Mimi Cave and written by Lauryn Kahn (“Ibiza), “Recent” tells the story of Noa (Edgar-Jones), who “meets the alluring Steve (Sebastian Stan) at a grocery retailer and – given her frustration with courting apps – takes an opportunity and provides him her quantity. After their first date, Noa is smitten and accepts Steve’s invitation to a romantic weekend getaway.”

“Recent” marks Cave’s function debut.

Searchlight Presidents Matthew Greenfield and David Greenbaum stated that the movie “upends all romance tropes and boldly feedback on the precarious nature of the trendy courting expertise. Mimi Cave has brilliantly introduced Lauryn Kahn’s razor sharp script to the display, and provides audiences one thing they are going to savor from starting to finish,” they promised.

Cave added, “‘Recent’ is a wildly allegorical story, but the movie carries strings of reality all through that I hope resonate for various audiences. I’m so happy to be working with the Searchlight staff to convey our movie to the world and might’t await folks to see the good performances Daisy and Sebastian give.”

Following its run at Sundance, which takes place nearly from January 20-30, “Recent” will stream completely on Hulu March 4.
