Lana Barić is stepping behind the camera. After writing and starring in “Tereza37,” Croatia’s submission in the International Feature Film category at last year’s Oscars, she’s set to make her directorial debut with “Eve After the Fall.” Variety reports that Focus Media is producing the pic, which is set against the backdrop of the 2020 Zagreb earthquake.

Led by Olga Pakalović (“Halima’s Path”) and named after Auguste Rodin’s sculpture, “Eve After the Fall” tells the story of Zana, “a woman who reevaluates her life after a natural disaster and attempts to start it all over again.”

“Lana has demonstrated that she is a fierce champion of women’s stories,” said Irena Marković, who is producing the film with Focus Media. “She is already considered one of the strong new voices of Croatian cinema. Her fresh approach to the stories of women resonates with not only women from the region, but universally.”

The film shows how the earthquake that killed one person and injured 27 others caused billions in damages.

Barić is an award-winning actress whose on-screen credits include “Besa” and “Eden.”
