“Fire of Love,” “Nothing Compares,” & “Descendant” Land PGA Awards Noms

The PGA Awards have introduced their nominees for Excellent Producer of Documentary Movement Footage, and three of seven titles are helmed by girls.

Sara Dosa’s “Fireplace of Love,” a visually dazzling tribute to volcanologists Katia and Maurice Krafft landed a nod, as did Kathryn Ferguson’s “Nothing Compares,” a portrait of controversial Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor, and Margaret Brown’s “Descendant,” which spotlights the seek for The Clotilda, the final recognized ship to reach in the USA illegally carrying enslaved Africans.

Surprisingly, “All of the Magnificence and the Bloodshed,” Laura Poitras’ ode to artist Nan Goldin, didn’t snag a nomination. The doc took residence Venice Movie Fest’s prime prize, the Golden Lion, and has been racking up noms and awards since its world premiere on the Lido.
