The Competition jury has been announced by Cannes Film Festival for its 75th edition. The number of women directors screening films at Cannes leaves something to be desired, but the fest’s jury is thankfully more female-friendly.

Four out of eight jurors are women. These include multihyphenates Jasmine Trinca and Rebecca Hall. The former, an actress with credits including “Iron Man 3,”  “The Town,” and “Vicky Christina Barcelona,” made her feature directorial debut with last year’s “Passing,” a period drama that she also penned. The latter, who has been seen on-screen in titles such as “The Gunman” and “Fortunata,” is making her feature directorial debut with “Marcel!” which is being presented as a Special Screening at Cannes.

Noomi Rapace, Deepika Padukone, and Deepika Padukone will also serve as jurors. Known stateside for the “xXx” franchise, Padukone’s other credits include “Piku” and “Chennai Express.” Rapace broke out with “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and has gone on to star in titles such as “Prometheus” and “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.”

Cannes 2022 runs from May 17 to 28.
