Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte will be staying put. HBO Max has renewed “And Just Like That…” for a second season. The “Sex and the City” revival “delivered the strongest debut of any Max Original series to date,” per a press release announcing the renewal.
Like its iconic predecessor, “And Just Like That…” is set in New York City. The series follows Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda, (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte (Kristin Davies), who are now in the 50s.
Kim Cattrall didn’t reprise her role from the original “SATC” as Samantha.
All three executive producers of the new series are Parker, Nixon, Davis.
“We have been delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much,” said Sarah Aubrey, HBO Max’s Head of Original Content. “We are proud of the work [of exec producer]These stories were brought to life by Michael Patrick King, our talented writers, producers, cast, crew, and crew. We can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store for season 2!”
Season 1’s directors included Nixon, Gillian Robespierre (“Obvious Child”), Anu Valia (“Never Have I Ever”), and Nisha Ganatra (“The High Note”). Samantha Irby (“Shrill”), Rachna Fruchbom (“Fresh Off the Boat”), Keli Goff (“Black Lightning”), and “SATC” scribes Julie Rottenberg, and Elisa Zuritsky are among the writers.
