Strawberry Auburn Hair Is the Latest Red Shade We Can’t Get Enough Of

0 152

Red hot hair isn’t slowing down anytime soon. We’ve seen strawberry brunette, strawberry brunette, and copper coin trending. Now strawberry auburn hair is the latest variation on the shade that’s going mainstream.

Lorena M.Valdes, Chicago’s Maxine Salon colorist, says that the shade is the best way for you to play with red colors if your preference is for a soft approach. “The look uses auburn to create a rich feel, while the strawberry highlights have more copper to brighten up the look,” she says. “Balayage has been my favorite technique for this look.”

If you feel tempted to go red (trust me you won’t regret) but don’t want to be as bold as Gigi Hadid, Valdes recommends going with strawberry auburn. “This shade works for anyone interested in playing with warmer colors without fully committing to a fully saturated look,” she says. “Since it utilizes different techniques that give the illusion of a fully saturated color, it gives a softer grow out.”

These techniques include subtle auburn highlights that run from roots to ends in a foil and balayage pieces that are thicker towards the end. This gives you a natural look and allows you to spend less time in the salon.

Valdes mentions that the model in the above example had a medium/light base that was perfect for natural strawberry shades. “With darker bases, the color will have more of a pop in contrast but still will have a soft grow out from the balayage.” No matter what shade you start with, she recommends asking a high/low balayage with a red gloss for a similar look.” Highlights can be great but should be done sooner,” she said.
