Despite its challenges, this pandemic year has proven to be quite a fruitful one for veteran\u00a0actress and life-long learner Xiang Yun.<\/p>\n

The 58-year old shared her joy at finally completing her education, decades after she joined the workforce.\u00a0\u201cThis has been a year of \u2018plentiful harvest\u2019,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Due to her family background, Xiang Yun quit her studies\u00a0after graduating from secondary school to help support her family, including four younger siblings.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Channel 8 star and her husband Edmund Chen were among those\u00a0interviewed by 8world\u00a0where they were asked to reflect on\u00a0their year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve fulfilled\u00a0what I\u2019d hoped to do for many years,\u201d Xiang Yun shared\u00a0of her busy year which was spent pursuing her interests. They included studies in\u00a0nutrition, Reiki and flower essence therapy.<\/p>\n

2021 has also been good to\u00a0her husband, actor-turned-artist\u00a0Edmund Chen, 60, who won four design awards this year for his work. He also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with the Science Centre in September on creating Singapore\u2019s largest bottle-cap wall mural.<\/p>\n

Added Xiang Yun:\u00a0\u201cI saw him achieve a lot this year, and I too, have fulfilled my dreams, which I\u2019m happy about.\u201d<\/p>\n

Edmund chimed in with his support and admiration for his wife, whom he described as \u201camazing\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s incredible how she took up courses, one after another. I thought her enthusiasm would be short-lived, but she came back with certificate after certificate, it was like an addiction,\u201d he laughed.<\/p>\n

Sharing how she \u201cloves being in a learning environment\u201d, Xiang Yun also gave credit to him\u00a0for his support.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d be in the room for up to four hours, or sometimes the whole day, for my online classes. When he peeks in, I\u2019d motion to him that I\u2019m hungry and he would go and\u00a0da bao<\/em>\u00a0food for me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very thankful to him for giving me that supportive environment to fulfil a dream I\u2019ve had for many years.\u201d<\/p>\n

She joked: \u201cI should get him to sign on my certificates.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pair, who has\u00a0been married for 30 years, said they often reminisce on the past and the journey that they\u2019ve been through.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think she\u2019s amazing and I feel like I\u2019ve won the lottery,\u201d gushed Edmund. \u201cIt\u2019s not easy because we have different characters and we do clash, so the fact that we\u2019re able to get to\u00a0this stage and continue to grow, it\u2019s quite something.\u201d<\/p>\n

Xiang Yun is a role model for lifelong learning and has also taken on a new venture as an entrepreneur. She\u00a0recently opened an online store with her younger sister and a partner\u00a0selling organic and sustainable products.<\/p>\n

The idea for the business took root after Xiang Yun successfully lost 10kg, which motivated her to take upnutrition studies\u00a0along with her younger sister.<\/p>\n

According to Shin Min Daily News, the sisters and another partner\u00a0each invested a five-figure sum into their online store, named Skinship, which offers\u00a0products such as organic nuts, nut butter, enzyme soap bars and essential oils.<\/p>\n

Xiang Yun added that compared to other\u00a0organic brands\u00a0which can be \u201cquite expensive\u201d, their products are aimed at the mass market and set at a lower price point.<\/p>\n

She confessed that she \u201cdoesn\u2019t know a thing about business\u201d and leaves the running of the venture\u00a0mainly to her sister, who is \u201cgood with administrative details\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s more aggressive while I\u2019m more cool-headed, our \u2018boss\u2019 [partner]Both have a lot of business experience, so we each have our strengths. My sister does things very quickly which means\u00a0I don\u2019t have to breathe down her neck, I like this arrangement!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
