Rare Beauty’s Liquid Luminizer Is What Every Highlighter Should Be

0 208

Don’t sleep on Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty. The Rare Beauty Positive Light Liquid Luminizer is the latest Rare Beauty product to take the internet by storm—and it’s easy to see why. It provides a radiant, natural-looking glow that is lightweight and easy to blend without streaking.

These are not uncommon results for the brand. It launched in September 2020. The brand received rave reviews for its inclusive shades, highly pigmented products, vegan, cruelty free formulas, and vegan options. Now, nearly two years after Rare Beauty’s grand debut, beauty influencers, makeup artists, and normal people alike have all taken to TikTok to gush about the brand and its products, which is how I discovered this liquid highlighter—and the shade Transcend has since become my go-to.

Because of my naturally dull complexion, I’ve long searched for makeup staples with dewy, radiance-boosting finishes to help boost the appearance of a lit-from-within glow. Although I’ve tried countless highlighters over the years, few compare with the Positive Light Liquid Luminizer; unfortunately, there’s a fine line between the beautiful subtle sheen of my dreams and over-the-top, sparkly streaks.

Good news: The Rare Beauty Positive light liquid Luminizer gives you a natural-looking radiant look without any excess shimmer. This is thanks to the light-reflecting pearls in the formula. The formula is also buildable, so you can easily add more layers depending on the sheen you’re looking for. It’s also very blendable, so you don’t have to worry about it drying down too quickly and inadvertently causing telltale streaks or patches. It’s also versatile: The weightless formula can be used to layer cream, liquid, or powder products.

When it comes to application, I like to place the highlighter on top of my beloved Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush—another regular in my makeup routine—to help diffuse the color and sculpt my cheekbones. To begin, I lightly apply three dots to each cheek and gently pat it into the skin (rather than rubbing or massaging). If I want an extra-dewy finish, I’ll go in with a second layer of product and I’m set. I’ve also dabbed the highlighter along the top of my nose, Cupid’s bow, and across my eyelids as a shimmery shadow—I’m all for multipurpose makeup hacks.
