PSA: L’Oreal’s Lumi Glotion Is Just as Good as TikTok Says

0 176

I’ve never been fond of foundation, since my sensitive, acne-prone skin tends to break out whenever I pile on too much product. Enter L’Oréal Lumi Glotion Natural Glow Enhancer, a foundation alternative that’s become a staple in my minimalist beauty routine.

My biggest flex is that since 2018 I’ve owned—and loved—this now-viral product, and I have no plans on retiring it any time soon. I’m always looking for more lightweight alternatives to help me achieve that so-called lit-from-within glow sans any irritation or clogged pores, and nothing has beaten out this one.

TikTok discovered my best-kept secret. The hybrid formula shot to fame a few month ago and has amassed over 12,000 Amazon reviews. Lumi Glotion is a hybrid of a liquid highlighter, and a tinted moisturizer. This may explain why it’s so popular. But unlike a traditional highlighter, Lumi Glotion isn’t sparkly or glittery; instead, it offers more of an understated shimmer, making it easy to achieve a subtle sheen that’s right on trend with the no-makeup makeup look.

The result? The result? A natural-looking, easy glow that lasts just seconds. The hydrating, water-based formula feels light on my skin. It’s even packed with editor- and expert-loved skin-care ingredients, such as glycerin (a moisture-boosting humectant) and nourishing shea butter. Its light texture means that it can be easily used over or under your favorite makeup products. Lumi Glotion is a primer that will ensure your makeup adheres smoothly to your skin. Or, you can use it to highlight your cheekbones and eyebrows.

Although the formula is sheer—and therefore offers minimal coverage—it instantly brightens my complexion, thanks to its formula spiked with light-reflecting pigments. (To that end, it won’t mask acne, redness, or dark circles on its own, so you might want to pair it with other makeup products.) I use it as a tinted moisturizing cream on its own, but I also spot-treat with a concealer, especially if there is a Zoom meeting, bottomless brunch reservation or other special occasion.

Although you can buff out tinted moisturizer with a brush, I prefer applying it with my fingertips to achieve a more natural appearance. It is also easier to blend and build the color. For everyday wear, I usually take two teaspoons (one for each cheek) and use them as a highlighter along the contour of my cheeks. Sometimes, I’ll even dab some on the tip of my nose, brow bones, cupid’s bow, and the corner of my eyes for extra luminosity.

While I love my L’Oréal Lumi Glotion, it’s worth noting that the product only has four shade options. Although it is ideal, the formula is not as pigmented as traditional foundations. It lives up to its hype.
