Re “Biden, at 79, Reveals Indicators of Age and Aides Fret About His Picture” (entrance web page, July 10):

Regardless of all that he has on his plate, I don’t understand any decline, bodily or mentally, in President Biden’s capability to steer this nation. He reveals the identical easy, easygoing and relatable persona that has been his trademark since he was elected senator 50 years in the past.

Whereas I did have considerations about his capability to deal with the trials of presidential workplace upon his election, now that he’s nicely into the second 12 months of his presidency, these reservations have been alleviated to the diploma that he has proven that he’s as much as the job, essentially the most demanding on the face of the earth.

Nobody is aware of what the longer term holds, good or unhealthy. Till such time as it may be objectively demonstrated that Mr. Biden is unfit for workplace, rumblings from inside his administration and with out about his allegedly diminished management capabilities are simply that, and usually are not worthy of front-page protection.

Re “Biden Promised Calm, however Base Needs a Fighter” (entrance web page, July 7):

If Democrats have discovered nothing else on this Period of Trump, it’s that enjoying by the foundations, enjoying truthful, being honorable and “going excessive once they go low” has neither roused the bottom nor excited the citizens.

I’m a lifelong Democrat, voting for the D column in each election since I returned from Vietnam in 1969. I consider within the platform of the occasion, and I used to be a New Hampshire state consultant. One lesson I discovered in that Legislature was that whereas there are some Republicans who’re reasonably cheap, as a complete they’re steadfast of their beliefs, with a rock-hard resistance to compromise.

I need a pit bull as tenacious representing my core political views as Republicans are representing theirs. I need ardour within the Senate. I need pointed anger at what the Republican Get together has carried out and continues to do to my nation, to our democracy.
