Prince Harry did not attend the memorial. The Duke and Duchess have been married since 2018, and have two children, Archie, three years old, and Lilibet Diana, 11 months. The former senior royals resigned from their positions in March 2022 and moved to California where Meghan Markle was born.
The tragedy at Robb Elementary School marks the 27th school shooting this year and occurred just days after a gunman killed 10 people at a grocery store in a predominantly Black neighborhood of Buffalo.
“How does this make sense to anyone? These are our children,” Jimmy Kimmel said at the top of his late-night show on May 25 after directly addressing Republican leaders in Texas including Greg Abbott, John Cornyn, and Ted Cruz. “This is now our fault. Because we get angry, we demand action, we don’t get it, they wait it out, and we go back to the lives that we should rightfully be able to go back to. But you know who doesn’t forget it? Sandy Hook, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High school, and Robb Elementary School parents. They won’t forget it.”
