Change your Instagram handle is the best way to show true love. Brooklyn Peltz Beckham will attest.
On April 9, Victoria Beckham, fashion designer, and soccer legend David Beckham’s 23-year old eldest son, married Nicola Peltz in Palm Beach. On Monday evening, April 18, he posted a photo of himself and his “wifey” sharing a single french fry Lady and the Tramp-style.

The IG post was not only Brooklyn’s first use of the phrase “wifey” on grid, it was also the first post from his new handle, @brooklynpeltzbeckham. He tagged Nicola in the photo, who had also updated her handle to include her new surname: @nicolaannepeltzbeckham.
On the day after the nuptials, Brooklyn posted a photo of the happy couple walking down the aisle hand-in-hand with the caption, “Mr. & Mrs. Peltz Beckham.” Now that they’ve changed their handles, it looks like the combined surnames are not a one-time thing, but part of a new image the couple is building together. Peak romance is what I believe.
It’s not uncommon for women, however, to retain their last name or add their husbands’ name to the end of it. It isIt’s not common for a man to take on the name of his wife in any capacity. Imagine a world with Justin Baldwin Bieber and Kanye Kardashian West. The combined last name makes sense, especially when the two partners are well-known.
Though their wedding was fairly traditional—they invited the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, after all—the Peltz Beckhams are proving themselves to be quite progressive. Another reason to celebrate.
