Whose butt it anyway? After Spider-Man has no way home star Tom Holland revealed that one of the three Peter Parkers in the movie (Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire) was wearing a “fake butt” under his web-slinger costume, the Internet has been abuzz with speculation. Holland’s costar has now officially weighed-in, exactly a week after Butt Gate.

Talk to Entertainment TonightGarfield claimed that it wasn’t him with the gluteal enhancers on February 27th and that he doesn’t know who Holland was referring. “I have no idea. It’s not me,” he told the ETReporter who inquired about the rumor regarding the 2022 SAG Awards. “So I have no clue. I don’t even know. I assumed everyone’s butts were their butts.”

If it’s Garfield, then we have Holland and Maguire. The thing is, Holland seemed like he saw it before realizing it wasn’t real. It doesn’t sound like he could have seen it. “I’ll give you a spoiler…And I’m not going to tell you who. But one of us has a fake arse in their suit,” the UnchartedStar originally told Seth Meyers February 21. “You can figure that out for yourself. I remember being on set, and feeling like, “Wow… Oh hang on a minute, this is not real.”

Now you might think it’s TobeyMaguire, the OG Spider-Man. But it’s not so fast. When the reporter speaking to Andrew Garfield tried to narrow the options down, the actor said, “No, I don’t think it’s Tobey. I’ve seen Tobey’s stomach. Tobey’s got back.” There’s actually so much to unpack in that statement. You can see it for yourself.

It seems that there is still a mystery to solve! Honestly, it’s very likely Holland invented Butt Gate to mess with his “Spider brothers.” According to Garfield, the trio became very close while working together on No Way HomeWe remain in constant contact. Following his Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his performance in Tick, Tick…Boom!, Garfield revealed he received a “very sweet” text from his former costars.

“I received a sweet, sweet message from Tom and Tobey. Very, very sweet,” Garfield said on the Happy and Sad ConfusedPodcast from earlier in the month “The Spider brothers are in action today, and they’ve been very, very supportive. It’s very lovely.”
