Vietnam is so affordable, we spent only $600 all-in (flights and hotel, expenses, etc.) for a week, including trips to Halong Bay, Sapa, and Halong Bay. You can get food from Vietnam for $1 to $2 per dish, and beer for $1 per pint.

If you’re an avid backpacker, one night at Hanoi Central Backpackers Hostel For a fully-air-conditioned four-bed mixed-suite, expect to pay $8 per night. $8 per night includes breakfast, free beer, free walking tours, and free pub crawls.

Things to Do:

3D2N trips to the UNESCO World Heritage Site are possible Halong BayIt is well-known for its clear water, spectacular cliffs, caves, as well as Cat Ba Island (the biggest island in Halong Bay). You can also go kayaking or relax on the beaches. If you’re feeling brave, you can even jump off of the cliffs. It takes about 2.5 to 3 hours by car/bus to get there.

You might also want to go to Sapa, a remote town in northwestern Vietnam that’s known for its pristine rice terraces, cool mountain atmosphere, and community of ethnic villages. Imagine Cameron Highlands, but 10x better. It is also very close to China, so the weather is amazing.

You can also do a homestay with Hmong people to get in touch with their culture, cuisine, and way of life.

It takes approximately 5.5 hours to reach Sapa. We recommend that you take a super comfortable overnight bus for around $10-20.
