Greek 7 with baked pita chip

This party dip is light and healthy. I love the extra protein found in the hummus made from the garbanzo beans, also known as chickpeas. If you’re serving this Greek layer dip for a large party, you can double the recipe or halve it for a small one.

What is a Greek 7-layer Dip made of?

These are the seven layers of this easy Greek dip.

  1. Hummus: Hummus is the base layer. Make your own hummus if you have the time. If you don’t have the time, you can use store-bought. You can also try flavored hummus like red pepper or garlic.
  2. Yogurt: Mix the Greek yogurt, garlic and lemon juice. Season with salt and ground pepper. You can also add tzatziki to this layer. If you don’t eat dairy or want to keep it vegan, skip the yogurt and add more hummus.
  3. Red Onion Sub green onions or shallot.
  4. Cucumber: Use a seedless English cucumber since they’re less watery. If you have only regular cucumbers, remove the seeds.
  5. Tomatoes:Use Roma tomatoes to replace grape tomatoes or cherry tomatoes.
  6. Feta: Feta cheese gives the dip a salty, tangy taste.
  7. Kalamata Olives: Add sliced kalamatas to the dip. These will also work if you have only black olives.

HOW TO MAKE GREEK DIIP

It doesn’t take long to make this Greek layer dip recipe once your ingredients are prepped. Layer all the ingredients, starting with the hummus and ending with the olives in an 8” x 8” or 7″ x 11″ glass dish. For a low-carb option, you can serve the dip with whole wheat pita chips, baked corn chips, or carrot and celery sticks.

Can you make Greek 7-layer dip the night before.

You can prep all the ingredients ahead, but it’s best to layer it just before serving, as the cucumbers tend to get watery if they sit too long.
