“The Woman King” Leads Girls On Film Awards Nominations

Disenchanted by the absence of “The Lady King” at this 12 months’s Academy Awards? Us too. We are happy to see Gina Prince-Bythewood’s newest main in nominations on the second annual Women on Movie Awards, which is slated to happen February 23. The awards “replicate the ethos of the Women On Movie podcast” and “reward excellence in female-focused movies,” per a press launch saying the noms.

Directed by Prince-Bythewood and written by Dana Stevens, “The Lady King” stars Viola Davis and relies on a real story of an all-female military that protected the West African kingdom of Dahomey.

The movie is up for honors resembling Greatest Function, Greatest Feminine Friendship On Display screen, and Greatest Ensemble Performing.
