Charlotte Wells’ directorial debut has found a home following its buzzy world premiere at Cannes’ Critic’s Week. A24 scored North American rights to “Aftersun,” which currently holds a 100 percent “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Written by Wells, the drama follows Sophie, a woman who “reflects on the shared joy and private melancholy of a holiday she took with her father twenty years earlier. Memories real and imagined fill the gaps between as she tries to reconcile the father she knew with the man she didn’t,” per Deadline.

Newcomer Frankie Corio stars.

Other deals out of Cannes have included Mia Hansen-Løve’s “One Fine Morning” and Marie Kreutzer’s “Corsage.” Sony Pictures Classics snagged the former and IFC Films the latter. “One Fine Morning” sees Léa Seydoux playing a single mom trying to get her ailing father the medical care he requires and “Corsage” is an unconventional biopic about Empress Elisabeth of Austria that stars Vicky Krieps.
